We are delighted to continue FRIDAY FINKERS, the newest addition to the film programme at Linden Hall Studio. Taking place on Friday afternoons, following our monthly Thursday art film screenings, these films are dedicated to outstanding documentary cinema across a wide range of subjects.
While our Thursday film programme remains focused on art, artists and creative practice, FRIDAY FINKERS broadens the lens to explore the wider world. Through carefully selected documentaries, audiences encounter thought-provoking perspectives on history, culture, science, politics, society, nature and remarkable human stories. Designed to inform, challenge and inspire, these screenings offer an opportunity to engage with ideas and issues that encourage reflection, discussion and a deeper understanding of the world around us.
THE FOG OF WAR, Errol Morris's acclaimed Academy Award-winning documentary featuring former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara reflecting on the defining moments of his remarkable and controversial career. Through a series of candid interviews, the film explores the moral complexities of war, political decision-making and the lessons of twentieth-century conflict. Intelligent, compelling and profoundly thought-provoking, it is a masterclass in documentary filmmaking that perfectly embodies the spirit of Friday Finkers—films that challenge assumptions, provoke discussion and encourage us to see history, and ourselves, with greater clarity.
"There’s a tendency to believe that we know the future because we know the past."
