For audiences in Deal, Walmer, Sandwich, Dover and across South East Kent, this is a rare opportunity to experience world cinema classics on the big screen, introduced by guest speakers and presented in a focused, intimate gallery setting.

Le Samouraï (1967)

Melville’s minimalist masterpiece employs sound with surgical precision. Sparse dialogue, ambient city noise and an understated score heighten the film’s atmosphere of isolation and ritual.

Friday 27 March – Matinee Screening
Blackmail (1929)

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
1hr 25min

Hitchcock’s first sound film remains a landmark in cinema history and a bold early exploration of how sound shapes fear and memory. Moving between silent-era visual language and newly emergent dialogue, it uses distorted voices and exaggerated everyday noises to place us inside its heroine’s psychological state.

Praised by BFI as:

“A pioneering work of early sound cinema.”

Doors: 1:00pm
Film begins: 1:30pm
