The Signature of Small Things — Private View at Linden Hall Studio

An exhibition by Daisy Cook & Olivia Horley at Linden Hall Studio

On Saturday 4 October 2025, Linden Hall Studio hosted the private view of The Signature of Small Things, an exhibition of new work by painter Daisy Cook and ceramic artist Olivia Horley. Guests were invited to enjoy a glass of wine as they experienced the exhibition, that celebrated two artists connected by a shared philosophy of attention, stillness, and sensitivity to the everyday.

Drawing inspiration from their daily walking practices, both artists explore how presence and observation can become creative acts. Cook’s abstracted landscapes and interiors evoke atmosphere through layered surfaces of oil paint — her works balancing light, texture and ambiguity. Horley’s porcelain ceramics, meanwhile, find beauty in simplicity: vessels shaped by hand, where stillness, gesture, and function coexist.

As the title suggests, The Signature of Small Things is an exhibition about noticing — about the subtle, the fleeting, and the traces left by time and touch. Through paint and clay, both artists distil the essence of their materials and moments, revealing how art can transform quiet observation into something profound.

The private view was warmly attended, with visitors engaging closely with the works and the ideas behind them. The exhibition continues at Linden Hall Studio until Saturday 25th October.
