LOTTIE COLE

Linden Hall Studio is delighted to present a solo exhibition of recent paintings by Lottie Cole RWS, on view from 7 to 28 November 2026.

For Cole, the domestic interior is never simply a setting. Her carefully constructed rooms operate as portraits without figures, in which paintings, books, furniture, flowers and fabrics suggest the lives of those who might inhabit them. Familiar objects become clues to identity, taste and memory, allowing each interior to unfold as a quietly layered narrative.

Warm, colourful and immediately inviting, Cole’s paintings reward closer attention. Her rooms are imagined rather than directly observed, assembled from fragments of memory, magazines, art history and everyday life. Small imperfections and unexpected combinations give them a convincing sense of human presence, even when their occupants remain unseen.

Cole began her training at Wimbledon Art School before studying Art History at the University of St Andrews. Working across oil, watercolour and gouache, she balances narrative detail with a sensitive handling of colour, light and paint. She was elected a full member of the Royal Watercolour Society in 2025.

A much-loved and regularly exhibited artist within the LHS Collection, Cole has developed a strong following among visitors and collectors. This solo exhibition offers an opportunity to experience an expanded selection of her distinctive recent work together at Linden Hall Studio.
