Contemporary Cinema | Film Course in Deal, Kent
A new four-part film course at Linden Hall Studio, in the heart of Deal. Taught by John Wischmeyer, Cinema Lecturer at City Lit.
27 February – 20 March 2026
This crucial course on contemporary cinema coincides with the sheer variety of films released immediately before the British Academy Film Awards (22 February 2026) and the Academy Awards (15 March 2026).
This is the third film course at Linden Hall Studio, continuing to build a lively community of film enthusiasts in Kent!
About the Course
Join a community of cinephiles to discuss and debate your favourite films of the past year and compile a students’ list — The List of Best Films — added to and modified as new films are released each week. Students become critics in an ongoing class conversation.
Across four sessions, we will:
-
Explore key contemporary cinema releases
-
Discuss major awards contenders and independent films
-
Debate the defining films of the year
-
Develop deeper critical understanding in a supportive setting
