We are delighted to continue FRIDAY FINKERS, the newest addition to the film programme at Linden Hall Studio. Taking place on Friday afternoons, following our monthly Thursday art film screenings, these films are dedicated to outstanding documentary cinema across a wide range of subjects.
While our Thursday film programme remains focused on art, artists and creative practice, FRIDAY FINKERS broadens the lens to explore the wider world. Through carefully selected documentaries, audiences encounter thought provoking perspectives on history, culture, science, politics, society, nature and remarkable human stories.
Designed to inform, challenge and inspire, these screenings offer an opportunity to engage with ideas and issues that encourage reflection, discussion and a deeper understanding of the world around us.
THE TRUFFLE HUNTERS, Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw’s exquisitely observed documentary, travels deep into the forests of Piedmont in northern Italy, where a small group of elderly men and their beloved dogs search for the rare and highly prized white Alba truffle.
Guided by traditions and closely guarded knowledge passed down through generations, the hunters live and work according to the rhythms of the landscape. Their quiet world, seemingly untouched by modern life, is captured with extraordinary warmth, humour and painterly beauty.
Yet beneath the film’s considerable charm lies a thoughtful exploration of ageing, friendship, commerce and the fragility of a way of life increasingly threatened by environmental change and growing global demand. Tender, surprising and visually magnificent, THE TRUFFLE HUNTERS is a celebration of companionship, tradition and the pleasures of living at a slower pace.
