Annie Clay is currently developing work on the relationship between urban and natural landscapes, how they meet and the space they create together. Layering paint and collage over hand written words from her diaries, there is an appetite for exploring how to translate the feel of a place and weave personal, often emotional experiences onto a surface. Annie has always been influenced by the interactions between self and her/our immediate environment, and tells a story of a place through shape, colour, perspective and light. She is fascinated by surface layers and what lies beneath.

Annie gained a first class degree in Printed Textile Design from Brighton University in 2005. She lives in Bristol, and works from her studio on Jamaica Street.
